The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine to Dr. Daniel E. Matthews, Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with Bayside Orthopaedic, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Center, based in Fairhope AL.
Dr. Dan Matthews, long known for his expertise and love for treating the injured athlete was recently recognized by the ABOS (American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery) for his expertise in Sports Medicine by awarding him a CAQ or Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Only Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeons can be considered for this Subspecialty certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. This CAQ is only awarded to “those surgeons who have demonstrated qualifications beyond those expected of other orthopaedic surgeons by virtue of additional education, a practice characterized by a majority of cases in orthopaedic sports medicine, and contributions to this field of medicine.” ABOS
This certification process involved an ABOS review of the management of 125 sports medicine cases over a 12 month period performed by Dr. Matthews and the successful completion of a 4 hour Board Certification examination.
The partners and staff of Bayside Orthopaedic, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Center are proud of this most prestigious accomplishment. A CAQ in Sports Medicine is just another example of our commitment to providing Baldwin County with the highest quality of care available.
