Born and raised in Mobile, Dr. Jay Savage attended Auburn University and earned a degree in Biomedical Science in 2003. He holds a MD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed his internship and residency with the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Savage began a career focus on sports injuries with a fellowship in California at Santa Monica Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. While in Santa Monica, he served as assistant team physician for the LA Galaxy and with Pepperdine University.
Dr. Savage joined Bayside Orthopaedic in 2013, and helped bring leading-edge Mako robot-guided joint replacement surgery to Baldwin County in 2018. He also performs Velys Digital Surgery and excels in highly specialized joint reconstruction and revision.
Dr. Savage is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and member of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He was named to the 2019 class of Mobile Bay’s “40 under 40” by Mobile Bay Magazine.
Today you’ll spot Dr. Savage under the Friday night lights with the Bayside Admirals in Daphne, where he serves as team physician. He and wife Jessica are parents to Julia, James, and John Bailey.
