Dr. Jason Determann’s specialty in shoulders and elbows seems a natural fit…for a former star pitcher with the LSU Tigers. A shoulder injury led to an interest in orthopaedics, and a decision to forego a draft by the Boston Red Sox to attend medical school instead.
Dr. Determann received his MD from Louisiana State University in New Orleans, followed by residency in Orthopaedic Sugery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is Board Certified and Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine with a specialty in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery from OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Determann performs Velys Digital Joint Replacement Surgery, and is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Determann joined Bayside Orthopaedic in 2015. You’ll find him on the sidelines with the Fairhope High School Pirates during football season, where he’s served as team physician since 2016. He and wife Emily are parents to Elliot, Judd, Jentry and Jesse.
